There is a lot of good to talk about with this 4th generation family owned company. Monday through Friday work week (off every day at 3:30), 5000 square foot shop with all the goodies (building they own is 20,000 square feet), high-end jewelry manufacturing versus retail, get to work with compassionate, fun people in a fun environment, and get paid well while doing it. Company has been IJO’s “Supplier of the Year”, 12 time RJO “Vendor of the Year”, #6 “Best Brand in 2022” by InStore Magazine, and celebrated their 100th anniversary in 2020.
This one feels more like a “career move” than just a job!

Here we’re looking for solid quality bench experience with a strong emphasis on most all venues of stone setting, general to advanced repairs, and good custom design and manufacturing skills (no casting on-site). The desire and ability to work with customers on custom (counter sketching a big plus), is an important part of the role. A Tuesday through Saturday work week, and a non-corporate fun atmosphere to work in.

Feel like you’re a good communicator? Like working with customers on “custom design”? How about not wanting to be without a laser, bench scope, and all the necessary tools of the trade? This destination store carries Gabriel & Co, Verragio, Hearts on Fire, Romance, etc., with a heavy focus on bridal pieces. They use Geller’s blue book, Edge software, and their sales team is trained on shop take-ins. Nice to have minimal involvement in take-ins…right?
Jeweler hours 9:00 to 5:30, Tuesday through Saturday, you get a smock provided to save your clothes, and better than most they pay 75% of your monthly health insurance premium. With the U.S. average cost of living at 100, per one comparison site, this area’s cost of living slides in at 76.6. Might be worth a look here!

Talk about job security. This store’s been in business 153 years. Want the comfort of working for an employer that can make it through any financial ups and downs? Their store is 62,500 square feet, they employ +/- 120 people, have clients in all 50 states plus on six continents, and have over 100,000 pieces of inventory. This is a “high-end” fine jewelry company, and working for this company is a definite boost to your resume.
Jewelers work 9:00 to 6:00 with every other Saturday off. You’ll experience a variety in your duties from general/advanced repairs to custom design assistance and hands on manufacturing. If you’ve got multiple years of bench experience, enjoy a fast-paced work environment, have a keen eye for top quality work, and a passion for your profession…this might be a really good spot to land.

You never know, this 83 year old store might be just what you’re looking for? Gotta be a good stone setter, be able to set and finish raw castings, and bring the knowledge and skills for repair work! And, you do get to use a laser, bench scope, graver max, and all other tools to make it all happen. Plus all this takes place in a 1200 square foot shop (I’ve lived in houses smaller).
Tuesday through Friday you’re off at 6:00. Saturday they close at 2:00! Not only do they have a group health plan, they pay 100% of your monthly premium.

This destination store has been in their community for 103 years. Last year they consolidated multiple stores into one big super store. They are members of the Diamond Council of America, carry Gabriel & Co, Hidalgo, Ashi, Tag Heuer, and Waterford crystal just to name a few.
The role is a blend of repair and custom work. They are looking for enough years bench experience to be very capable and efficient with nearly all repair and setting jobs in most all setting venues. Great hours of 9:30 to 5:30, with every other Saturday off. Want to live and work where you can put your feet in the sand and stare at the ocean after work? This may be your place.

TENNESSEE
Minutes from the Appalachian Trail, this store epitomizes living in beautiful country. Their previous jeweler was with them for 16 years (I placed them there), which says a lot about working for these people and the work environment. Except for December you get one 3-day weekend off per month, and believe it or not…NO watch batteries!
Not only will the right candidate need to be experienced and comfortable with general to advanced repairs and stone setting jobs, they want this person to embrace and help with the establishment and growth of their in-house custom department. They outsource their custom now, and really want to bring it in-house. This is a great opportunity to let your custom juices flow. There’s a lot of “upside” with this position. SOUTH LOUISIANA
First opened their doors in 1933. Three generations later they own and operate three fine jewelry stores in south Louisiana. This company focuses on their shop and its services. The shop alone represents 20% of the company’s total revenue between repairs and custom in-house manufacturing (they manufacture approximately 40% of their stock merchandise in-house). This is one of the stores that puts a lot of value and regard in their bench professionals. Of the four jewelers on staff (at the time of this writing), one has been with the company 20+ years, and another 10+. Says a lot about the work environment.
LaserStar, bench scope if you want one, and a 9:00 to 6:00 work week (good chance your hours could be Monday through Friday with Saturday and Sunday off). If you have top stone setting skills, a nice blend of quality and speed in your work, and a passion for your trade, this may be the professional environment you’ve worked hard throughout your career to get to.
